BSMMU to launch 370-bedded Corona Center on July 4

A 370-bedded ‘Corona Center’ will be launched at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on July 4 to ensure medical treatment for patients infected with coronavirus.
BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kanak Kanti Barua confirmed the matter, Public Relations Officer Prashant Kumar Majumder said.
He said out of 370 beds, 250 are in the Cabin Block and 120 in the Radio Building. Of the 250 beds in the cabin block, there are 24 beds for emergency patients and 15 ICU beds.
Meanwhile, a central oxygen plant has been set up in the cabin block. Installation work of high-flow nasal canola, non-invasive ventilators, such as C-Pap, oxygen concentrators, etc. to ensure patient care is almost to end.
Each bed has other medical facilities including central oxygen support. Only critically ill patients can be admitted here. On the other hand, the 120 beds of the radio building will be filled with moderate patients infected with coronavirus.
In the meantime, necessary directions have been given in the meeting held by the concerned specialist doctors with the health workers at all levels under the chairmanship of Professor Kanak Kanti Barua for launching Corona Center in Cabin Block and Betar Bhaban.
