No cricket matches have been held for a long time due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, some cricketers were allowed to practice privately late last month. The BCB, the country’s cricket governing body, does not want to organize any series or tournament unless the situation in the country has turned to normal. But BPL, the popular event of the country's domestic league, can be held in December or January.
Informing the matter on Wednesday, Jalal Yunus, chairman of the BCB’s media committee, told that BCB does not want to worry about organizing the BPL until the situation in the country is completely normal. “However, the BPL can be started in December-January,” he said.
“We are considering BPL as a domestic tournament. Many international cricketers come and play here. In that situation, the big question now is whether international cricketers will come. It is also important to know if the franchisees are ready,” said Jalal Yunus, adding, “We will think about this next month. We have slots in December-January. We will try to organize that time.”
Many international series has been postponed due to the coronavirus. However, cricket matches have started, leaving the virus fear behind. Several series are waiting to roll on the field. Many countries have also finalized the schedule for hosting franchise-based domestic leagues.
All the arrangements for the Indian Premier League (IPL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Sri Lankan Premier League have already been completed.
