Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said that BNP is making provocative statements to break the unity where concerted efforts is needed in the time of pandemic coronavirus.
He made the remarks online briefing at his official residence in the capital.
Obaidul Quader said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam’s statement was just a ploy to create confusion in the country’s political society. They are adopting a nefarious strategy of implementing the political agenda in the name of criticizing the government.
Mentioning that if there is anything opaque in the relief work, they are twisting the matter instead of revealing the truth and making those as political propaganda, the Awami League General Secretary said, “This is one kind of crime.”
The government respects the democratic rights of citizens. However, the tactic of spreading confusion in the minds of the people without verifying the truth is not worthy of support, he also said.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is also on high alert to prevent misapplication of the Digital Security Act, the minister said.
Regarding relief assistance, Obaidul Quader said cash and relief assistance has been provided to 40 million people so far under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Besides, party leaders and activists across the country have distributed food aid and cash among about 10 million families, he added.
