On November 20, the BNP leader was arrested by plainclothes police hours after a Dhaka court had sentenced him to three years' jail in a graft case filed by the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) for amassing illegal wealth.
He was later sent to the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
Later on Sunday, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from the jail as he fell ill.
The BNP leader has been suffering from diarrhea, diabetes and blood pressure.
