A member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was killed and another member injured by lightning while he was performing his duty on the border at Paschim Satnai Dangaparah in Nilphamari on Friday night. 

The deceased is Kamrul Islam, son of Abdus Sattar of Char Pahari village of Kulaura Upazila in Sirajaganj. Kamrul was working as Naik of Thakurganj BGB Camp under the Commander of Balapara Company of 51 Border Guard Battalion. 

Injured Yasin was admitted in a local hospital. 

Lieutenant Colonel Mostafizur Rahman, director of 51 Border Guard Battalion, said that a thunderbolt struck Naik Kamrul and soldier Yasin at 10 pm while they were patrolling on the Dangapara border. 

Kamrul died on the spot while Yasin was injured in the incident. The process of hand over the body of Kamrul to his family is underway.

Dimla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mofiz Uddin Sheikh said that a case was filed with the Police Station in this regard.
