BCL pays homage to Bangabandhu

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Sunday paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the historic March 7.
Leaders and activists - led by its' President Al Nahiyan Khan Joy, General Secretary Lekhok Bhattacharya - paid their homage by placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu on Bangabandhu Bhaban premises at Dhaka road number 32 in the morning.
After placing the wreaths, they stood in solemn silence for some time there as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of independence.
Dhaka University unit of BCL President Sanjit Chandra Das and General Secretary Saddam Hussain, General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North BCL Saidur Rahman Hridoy, General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South BCL Jobayer Ahmed and other top leaders and workers of central and various units were present.
On this day in 1971, Bangabandhu through his fiery and soulful address made a clarion call to the people to fight against the Pakistani occupation forces to achieve the long-cherished independence.
Before a rally of a million of freedom-loving people at the then Race Course Maidan (now Suhrawardhy Udyan) on March 7 in 1971, Bangabandhu in an announcement of independence declared, “Ebarer sangram amader muktir sangram, ebarer sangram swadhinatar sangram (the struggle this time is for our freedom, the struggle this time is for our independence)”.
