BCB to release list of contracted players after two series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will release the list of the national contracted players in 2021 after watching the performance in the upcoming two series.
Since cricket was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the last year, the BCB was unable to judge the players’ performance. Therefore the board would have to rely on the coming two series to determine who will be on the contracted list.
The previous contracted list was released in March 2020 for 01 January to 31 December, after which Bangladesh is yet to play any international match.
Bangladesh is set to return to international cricket on January 20, when they take on West Indies in the three-match ODI series. Thereafter they will play a Test series and then will visit New Zealand for ODI and T20 series.
“We generally give the players a contract after watching their performance every year but last year was halted by the pandemic, so the players didn’t get any chance to show their performance,” said BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan.
So we are likely to retain the players who are in the contract since they had no scope to show their performance and may increase the number to some extent after watching the players’ performance in the coming two series. We’ll discuss it on the board, he added.
