The Bangladesh Cricket Board has sold the TV rights for the upcoming series at home against West Indies to Ban Tech. According to BCB officials, the price of deal is worth BDT 17.9 crore (USD 2.12 million approx).

"Ban-Tech won the rights for being the highest bidder," BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters. "They have got their own channel or else they can show it through other channels."

Apart from Ban-Tech, Gazi TV and T-Sports also took part in the bidding process that was held at the BCB headquarters on January 5, which went for 10 rounds. Ban-Tech, the marketing agent for broadcast deal, won the bid after quoting an offer price considerably higher than BDT 12.6 crore (USD 1.5 million approx) - the floor price set by the board last month.

This also hints at Gazi TV, BCB's broadcast partner from May 2014 to April 2020, set to make way for T-Sports as the latter is expected to buy the rights from Ban Tech and show the series worldwide.

T- Sports, Bangladesh's first sports channel, already made their entrance in the cricketing fraternity by airing the just concluded Bangabandhu T20 Cup.

BCB officials said they are happy with the deal for the series that will mark their return to international cricket to Bangladesh after 10 months. However, BCB will wait for ICC's next future tours programme before looking for their next broadcast partner. "Certainly it is a good deal and we are happy about it. But we have to wait and see where we stand before finalizing any long term deal," said a BCB official.

West Indies will play three ODIs followed by two Test matches, with the series beginning on January 20.
