BAF copter makes emergency landing in Sreemangal; 4 hurt

A helicopter of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) ‘MI-171’ made an emergency landing inside the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) camp in Sreemangal on Wednesday morning.

During the emergency landing, four people, including Flight Lieutenant Mehedi Hasan, senior warrant officer Farhad Hossain and Major General Khaled Md Abdullah of Kuwait, were injured and they were primarily treated at Sreemangal Health Complex.

Residential medical officer of the hospitals, Dr Md Mohsin said, after primary treatment the injured were sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.

The helicopter with 16 passengers on board made the emergency landing inside the BGB camp, some 100-feet away from its designated helipad, in Sreemangal around 10:10 am due to technical glitches, said Noor Islam, assistant director of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The copter took off from Tejgaon in Dhaka at 09:20 am.
