Awami League’s programs on Independence Day

The ruling Awami League (AL) has taken elaborate programs to celebrate Independence and National Day on Friday.

As part of the program, the national and party flags will be hoisted at Bangabandhu Bhaban along with central and party offices across the country from Friday morning immediately after the sunrise, said a party release.

Rich tribute will be paid at National Mausoleum at Savar on behalf of the Awami League at 7:00 am.

A delegation of the party will pay homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi-32 at 8:00 am maintaining health guidelines.

Besides, Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, on behalf of the party, will pay tribute at the grave of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara, Gopalganj.

Moreover, the leaders of the Awami League will join the program of the National Implementation Committee for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Birth Centenary at the National Parade Square at 3:30 pm.

Doa mahfil (special prayers) will be arranged at the mosques across the country including Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Jumm’ah prayers.

Christian community members will arrange special prayers at Tejgaon Church at 8:00 am and Mirpur Baptist Church (3/7-a Senpara Parbata, Mirpur-10) at 6:00 pm, Buddhist community members will hold prayers at International Buddhist Monastery at Merul Badda at 10:00 am and Hindu community members will arrange prayers at Dhakeshwari National Temple at 11:00 am.

Awami League will hold a discussion at the party’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue at 11:00 am on March 28.

Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will chair the discussion through a videoconferencing from her official Ganabhaban residence.

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader urged people of all strata including the leaders, activists, supporters and well-wishers of the party and its associate bodies to observe the day in a befitting manner.
