Attorney General Mahbubey Alam
The country's chief legal officer, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, has died. He died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on Sunday.
Mahbubey Alam was taken to the ICU on the morning of September 18. Earlier, on the night of September 3, Mahbubey Alam felt fever. The next day, on the morning of September 4, he was diagnosed with coronavirus. When his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to CMH on the same day.
After that Mahbubey Alam's physical condition was stable till 18 September. However, he was rushed to the ICU on the morning of September 18 after suffering a heart attack. His consciousness was normal, but his heart was not working normally.
Notably, Mahbubey Alam had been in charge of the Attorney General since January 13, 2009. He was also the ex officio chairman of Bangladesh Bar Council. There has been no Attorney General in Bangladesh for so long. Besides, Mahbubey Alam, former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, was also elected secretary of the association for one term.
