Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam on Friday said strict action would be taken if illegal signboards and billboards were found.
He was speaking at an illegal signboard-billboard eviction drive in the Banani Chairman Bari area in the capital.
“Wherever there is an illegal signboard-billboard, action will be taken. No one will be spared,” he said.
The DNCC mayor said, “No matter how influential that person is, it’s not up to us to decide.”
There will be no illegal billboards-signboards in this city. I came and stood by myself. I came in the expedition with the magistrates, he also said.
Atiqul Islam said permission to use signboards, billboards would have to be required, taxes would have to be paid to the city corporation. “These must be used as per the rules,” he added.
DNCC Regional Executive Officer Abdullah Al Baki, Executive Magistrate Motakabbir Ahmed and other senior officials were present at the time.
Regarding the operation, DNCC officials said that illegal signboards and billboards have been removed on various roads in the Chairman Bari area during the holidays to avoid suffering. This campaign will continue.
