Father carries every child from early childhood until his last breath; the early part in the lap of affection and the next part with the affectionate hope and responsibility. Even if the child grows up, the parents give shade like a banyan tree. But the ruthless feedback to that giver. The children have left their old father in the dustbin on Father's Day due to shortness of breath. And after the death of that father, the body has been buried as unclaimed.
Social welfare organization Anjuman Mofidul Islam has buried the body of the deceased on Sunday afternoon. Sajjad Hossain, assistant director of the Cumilla branch of the organization, confirmed the matter.
He said that at the request of the Cumilla Kotwali Police Station, the elderly Khorshed Alam was buried as unclaimed.
Cumilla Kotwali Model Police Station SI Shahab Uddin said he received the news of an old man screaming next to a dustbin in Cumilla city through national emergency hotline number 999, at 8:30 pm on Saturday.
The police official quickly went to the spot and the old man was suffering from shortness of breath at that time. Tears were dripping from his eyes; the old man was longing to live, the police official said.
However, the police officer took him to Cumilla Hospital without informing the senior officers whether he was infected with the coronavirus.
He added that the old man introduced himself while lying in the ambulance before being admitted to the hospital. He said his village home is in Noakhali. His children left him in the dustbin on Saturday night. It was not possible to know the details as his condition was worsened. He died shortly after being taken to hospital.
Kotwali Model Police OC Md. Anwarul Haque said the house of the dead old man is in Noakhali. He informed the police before his death. "But as I did not get the details, I handed over the body to Anjuman Mofidul Islam on Sunday. The organization has buried the body as unclaimed," the OC further said.
