Arrest warrant issued against Regent’s Shahed

The court on Monday has issued an arrest warrant against Mohammad Shahed alias Shahed Karim, owner of Regent Hospital and chairman of Regent Group, on charges of two cases including embezzling, forgery of Tk 3.68 crore.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Mainul Islam issued the warrant after a man named Saifullah Masud filed two cases against Shahed.
The complainant, the owner of Masud Enterprise located in Karwan Bazar in the capital, filed two separate cases against Shahed, accused him of buying goods worth Tk 3.68 crore and not paying for them.
The court directed the OC of Uttara West police station to produce Shahed by August 13.
In the complaint, Masud said that Shahed bought construction materials worth Tk 3.68 crore from him in two phases in 2018 but did not pay. On the contrary, Shahed threatens him. He filed a General Diary (GD) with Uttara West Police Station, even complained to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
