Arrest warrant issued against Khaleda, Gayeshwar

A court in Narail issued arrest warrant against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her party’s Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in two separate cases filed over their alleged defamatory remarks on freedom fighters of the War of Liberation and martyred intellectuals.
Narail Sadar Sub-ordinate Court judge Amatul Morsheda issued the warrant on Wednesday.
On December 21, 2015, Khaleda Zia made derogatory comments on the number of the Liberation War martyrs, 30 lakh, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a rally in the capital. Later on December 29, 2015, Sheikh Ashik Siddique filed a defamation case in Narail Sadar Sub-ordinate Court against the BNP chairperson.
The same person filed another case in the same court against Gayeshwar Chandra Roy for making derogatory remarks on the martyred intellectuals in a programme in the capital on December 25.
