Army saved dying Maternity

Bangladesh Army has saved life of a maternity woman resident of Bagakhali border village of Rangamati district bringing to Chittagong Combined Military Hospital (CMH) by helicopter. However, they could not save her child.

Mother named Sonaputti Chakma (20), she is wife of Dayamaye Chakma of Bagakhali village. She was brought to CMH at 12.30pm on Monday.

The midwife was called locally by the family of Dayamaye. But the midwife failed to deliver. The child of the womb died. But mother’s condition was dying all the night long.

On Monday morning, members of the family went to the BGB's local border post and discussed the matter begging help. Then the army asked for assistance from the BGB. The army wants the help of the air force.

Bakkhali of Jurachhari upazila of Rangamati district is a village situated at the triangle boarders of Bangladesh, India and Myanmar. It takes seven days to go from Rangamati Sadar to the remote hill village.

CMH doctor, Dr. Karim told the DailyBangladesh that the mother had been bleeding for almost 48 hours. In addition, the position of the child in the mother's womb was in the landscape. We have made every effort to save the mother and her child from the remote village of Bagakhali of Rangamati. After failing to try locally, they came to BGB at Dhamdoomma BOP at 11pm on Monday after taking a medical check-up. BGB doctor seeks help from Battalion 41 Battalion after sensing emergency condition of the patient. BGB asked emergency services of the army have been asked have been on behalf of the BGB, then a helicopter was sent from Chittagong to save the maternity mother. Within one hour, the helicopter reached Chittagong with the patient. Then the surgery was done. The army has taken the responsibility of treatment of the sick, and will be provided medical treatment at CMH until she is healthy.
