Two UPDF activists arrested with arms in Lakkhichhari, Khagrachhari

Bangladesh army detained two UPDF activists with arms in Lakkhichhari, the remote area of Khagrachhari district. After secret information army personnel conducted a drive at Rainnamachhra area at around 4:30 am on Tuesday morning and seized a US made Carbine (M4A1) shot of 5.56mm Caliber.

ISPR Assistant director Mohammad Reza-ul-Karim Shammi told this information through a press release on Tuesday afternoon.

It is mentioned in the press release that, on the basis of intelligence, it is known that the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF)'s nominated candidate failed to win the victory in the eleventh parliamentary elections. That's why they plan for violence after election. After receiving information, a patrol team from Lakkhichhari army zone of the Guimara army arrested two UPDF activists Sumant Chakma (20) and Dipankar Chakma (22) from Rainnamachhra upazila. The other two terrorists escaped sensing the force. They recovered, a sophisticated carbine including 53 rounds of fresh bullets, 1 potty, 1 ceiling, 1 cutlass, 2 illegal money receipt and multiple mobile phones from the spot.

The detainees claimed that they were activists of the ‘Prosita’ Group of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) against the Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Agreement. Legal action is being taken on it.
