Appoint doctors in prison hospital’s vacant posts: HC

The High Court on Wednesday has directed to appoint 117 doctors in the vacant posts in all the prison hospitals of the country.

In the meantime, the Director-General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has been asked to submit a report with the court within a month with quick recruitment. 

The High Court bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Quader passed the order.

Writ lawyer Md JR Khan Robin said, ‘In accordance with the High Court order, the authorities said that there are 141 authorized posts for the doctor in the prison hospitals of the country. Of these, only nine are duty doctors. Later, 15 more doctors were added. The High Court has directed the recruitment of the remaining 117 vacant posts.”

The authorities were asked to inform the jail authorities on January 14 about how many doctors were needed on an emergency basis in prison hospitals across the country. Accordingly, the jail authorities have submitted a report on Wednesday where it was mentioned that there are 117 vacant posts.
