A court in Dhaka on Sunday set April 7 to submit the probe report against Tanvir Iftekhar Dihan in a case filed over raping and subsequently murdering O-level student Anushka Nur Amin in the capital’s Kalabagan area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara fixed the new date as Inspector of Kalabagan police station AFM Asaduzzaman, the investigating officer of the case, could not submit the probe report on the day.
On January 13, the court directed to investigate whether Dihan had taken sex-enhancing drugs and narcotics at the request of investigating officer AFM Asaduzzaman. Then on January 10, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara ordered Dihan’s DNA test.
The next day, on January 11, Dulal Mia, the gateman of Dihan’s house, testified in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid as a witness.
On January 8, Dihan pleaded guilty in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid and gave a confessional statement over the rape-murder incident.
On January 7, Dihan called and took Anushka, 17, an O-level student of Mastermind School in the capital, to his Lake Circus Road flat and raped her there. As the girl fell sick due to rape, Dihan along with his friends took her to nearby Anwar Khan Modern Hospital, where the attending doctors declared her dead.
Being informed by the hospital authorities, police detained Dihan along with his three friends.
Later, the father of the victim filed the case with the Kalabagan police station at night on the same day.
