The Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities staged an anti-ragging rally on the campus here to create mass awareness and combating physical and mental harassment in the name of ragging.

Led by JU Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam, the rally was brought out from central Shahid Minar premises and ended at Selim Al Deen Muktamancha after parading different streets on the campus on Sunday.

State Minister of Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Enamur Rahman inaugurated the rally around 11 am.

Addressing the inaugural session, the state minister said, “Ragging is a perverted culture. We all have to come out from this practice. It is impossible making ragging free campus without collective endeavors.”

Expressing firm determination, JU VC Professor Farzana Islam said The JU campus shall be ragging free campus. Those who will be involved in this practice must get punishment, she added.

JU Pro VC (Administration) Professor Md Amir Hussain, Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq and Dean of Social Science faculty Professor Rasheda Akhter addressed the rally, among others.
