Anti-narcotics drive in capital, 50 held

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has detained 50 people for selling and consuming drugs during an anti-narcotics drive in the capital. Different types of drugs including yaba and heroin was recovered at that time.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Walid Hossain confirmed the information on Sunday.
The operation was carried out in different police stations of the capital from 6 am on Saturday to 6 am on Sunday.
He said 33,538 pieces of yaba, 123.6 grams of heroin, 42.60 kg of cannabis, 1,200 cans of beer and 72 bottles of phencidyl were recovered from them during the arrest.
Walid Hossain also said that 31 cases have been registered against the arrestees under the Narcotics Control Act.
