‘Ansar Al Islam’ man held in Capital

Members of RAB-4 arrested a suspected member of banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam from the Capital’s Mazar Road area of ​​Mirpur under Darussalam Police Station.

The arrested identified as Md. Nibir Hasan alias Abdur Rahim (19). During the drive, RAB recovered books, leaflets and mobile phones related to extremists from him.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury, media officer of RAB-4, confirmed the information on Sunday. 

He said a member of Ansar al-Islam was arrested in a raid in the Mazar Road area of ​​Darussalam police station around 11pm on Saturday.

During preliminary interrogation, Nibir Hassan, who was arrested, confessed to being an active member of the banned militant outfit Ansar al-Islam. 

Citing preliminary questioning, the RAB official added that he had been involved with Ansar al-Islam for three years. As an admin of a messenger ID, he was writing various extremist posts and uploading videos and conducting extremist activities.

In addition, by writing various extremist posts and uploading videos from two Facebook IDs, Ansar al-Islam was inciting and organizing various militant activities. Legal action is being taken against the arrested.
