Another 54 lakh Sinopharm vaccines arrived

Another consignment of 54,01,350 doses of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine, purchased by the Bangladesh government from China, has arrived.
The vaccines arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines around 2 am on Friday.
Dr. Shahriar Sajjad, assistant director of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) working at HSIA and other officials received the consignment.
According to the DGHS sources, the vaccine doses have been sent to the repository of Beximco Pharmaceuticals in Tongi for storage.
Earlier, China gifted 11 lakh vaccines to Bangladesh in two phases - 5 lakh doses in the first phase and 6 lakh doses in the second phase.
The first consignment of 20 lakh commercially purchased vaccines arrived in the country on July 3. Another 20 lakh vaccines arrived on July 17 in the second phase and 30 lakh vaccines arrived on July 30 in the third phase.
Meanwhile, 17 lakh vaccines arrived from China under COVAX for the first time on August 10 and 17.70 lakh vaccines arrived on August 11 in the second phase.
Lastly, 54 lakh doses of Sinopharm arrived in Dhaka on September 10. In all, a total of 2,35,61,801 doses of Sinopharm vaccine have arrived in the country from China.
