Another 50 lakh Sinopharm vaccines arrived

Another consignment of more than 50 lakh doses of China’s Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine has arrived in the country.
The consignment of vaccine doses arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 2 pm on Wednesday.
Confirming the matter, Maidul Islam, an official of Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said Chief Health Coordinator of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Abu Jaher received the vaccines at the airport.
The Covid-19 vaccination campaign was started in the country on January 27 this year. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the program at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.
As of Wednesday, a total of 3,90,31,896 people have received the vaccine so far across the country, among these, 2,35,13,362 people took the first jab and 1,55,18,534 took the second jab.
Besides, 4,34,45,450 people have registered for the Covid-19 vaccine till Wednesday, of these, 4,28,46,759 people have registered with NID card numbers and 5,98,691 people have registered with passport numbers.
