The United States has provided another 25 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine to Bangladesh.

Earl R. Miller, the US Ambassador to Bangladesh, handed over the vaccine as a gift from US citizens.

US Ambassador Earl R. Miller and USAID Mission Director Kathryn Stevens handed over the vaccines to Prof. Dr. Abul Bashar Khurshid Alam, director general (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Syed Mujibul Haque at a program held at Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) office in the capital on Tuesday.

During this, Earl R. Miller said the United States is happy to provide 25 lakh life-saving Pfizer vaccines to Bangladesh, and we will continue to support the National Vaccination Campaign. We are proud to collaborate on the COVAX facility. This will ensure adequate infrastructure to make Pfizer’s vaccine storage and vaccination safe and effective.

Bangladesh and US government officials then visited the EPI’s COVID Vaccine Conservation Center.

The United States is working hard to strengthen the COVID vaccination campaign in Bangladesh and the government’s ability to respond to the pandemic. So far, the US has trained more than 6,000 service providers and health workers to ensure safe and effective vaccine roll-ups and to protect the health of Bangladeshis.

Earlier, a total of 36,04,480 doses of Pfizer’s vaccine were reached in the country through the United States under the COVAX facility.
