Another 2000 Rohingyas on way to Bhasan Char

About 2,014 Rohingyas who reached Chattogram in the first journey of the fourth phase of the relocation have left for Bhasan Char in Noakhali by five navy ships from Chattogram Boat Club on Monday.
According to concerned sources, the Rohingyas started boarding the navy ship from Bhasan Char at 6:00 am. The navy ships left for the Bhasan Char around 10:15 am.
Mohammad Yusuf, a Rohingya who boarded the ship, said he was going to Bhasan Char voluntarily with eight members of his family in the hope of getting a better life.
The Rohingyas reached Chattogram from Cox’s Bazar on Sunday. A total of 2,014 people reached there by 17 vehicles in the first phase around 12:00 pm and 21 vehicles in the second phase from Ukhiya Degree College ground around 3:00 pm on Saturday.
According to the concerned sources, 6,688 people were shifted to Bhasan Char from different camps in Cox’s Bazar in three phases earlier.
1,642 people were relocated in the first phase on December 4 last year, then 1,804 people in the second phase on December 29 and 3,242 people were relocated in the third phase on January 29, 30.
About another 4,000 people are being prepared to be relocated to Bhasan Char on Monday and Tuesday. Meanwhile, 2,000 Rohingyas are already on their way to Bhasan Char.
8 lakh Rohingyas took refuge in Bangladesh after crossing the border on August 25, 2017, in the face of inhumane killing and torture in Myanmar. At present, the number of Rohingyas registered in 34 asylum camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf is 1.1 million or 11 lakh. The government is in the process of relocating about one lakh Rohingyas to Bhasan Char.
