Another 12 lakh doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine will arrive in the country today, March 26, on Independence and National Day, as a gift from the Government of India.
A special flight of Air India (Flight No-AL1230) carrying the vaccines will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka at 1:30 pm on Friday.
The Indian High Commission in Dhaka confirmed the information in a letter on Wednesday. Copies of the letter have been sent to the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Board of Revenue and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh.
It said 12 lakh doses of vaccine are being sent as a gift by the Indian government as part of its commitment to stand by Bangladesh in preventing the pandemic.
Refrigeration trucks, forklifts, C&F agents, customs clearances, approval of the concerned ministries and other related matters are requested to be prepared at the airport for speedy disposal of vaccines.
Earlier in January, the Indian government gifted 2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca.
