Film director Ananya Mamun and actor Shahin Mridha have been granted bail in a case filed under the Pornography Act over obscene dialogue with the police in a recently released film named Nabab LLB.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman granted them bail after a hearing on Monday.

Defendant's lawyer Saidur Rahman Manik applied for bail today. At the time, the state opposed bail. After hearing both the parties, the court granted them bail.

They were arrested on December 25 on charges of obscene dialogue with the police in the film titled 'Nawab LLB'. Then DB police inspector Kazi Nasirul Mamun filed a case against them under the Pornography Act at Ramna Police Station. They were later arrested in the case. The two accused were produced before the court on December 26.

Detective Police (DB) Inspector Abul Kalam Azad, the investigating officer of the case, requested to keep them in jail till the investigation of the case is completed. Following the petition, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam passed the order to send them to jail.

According to the case statement, a video spread on social media showed that Nabab LLB actress Sporshia was seen going to a police station to file a case as a rape victim. A police sub-inspector, played by actor Shaheen Mridha, asked her offensive questions about the rape. The police objected to that scene in the case.

This video is very defamatory for the Bangladesh Police Force and through the video, the Bangladesh Police Force has been presented in a very negative way in front of the public.

Recently, half of the movie 'Nawab LLB' directed by Anonno Mamun has been released on an online app called 'I Theater'. The film was supposed to be released in full on January 1. But a scene from the released part sparked criticism on social media about police questioning a rape victim. When that part of the interrogation went viral on various social media groups, people started making negative comments about the police. In view of this, a case has been filed by the police regarding the matter.

Besides Shaheen Mridha, Shakib Khan, Mahiya Mahi, Orchita Sporshia, and Shahiduzzaman Selim acted in the film.
