Any kind of extortion and anarchy will not be tolerated in the purchase and sale of Qurbani cattle skins, warned IGP Dr. Benazir Ahmed, saying that necessary measures have been taken to prevent skin smuggling.
IGP said this at an online meeting with all police chiefs on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha from the police headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.
Dr. Benazir Ahmed said that the sacrificial animals have to be bought and sold at the cattle market by following the hygiene rules declared by the government. “If possible, disinfectant chambers can be set up at the entrance of the cattle market in coordination with the leaseholders,” he added.
Police activities should be intensified to stop counterfeit money at the cattle market. Besides, measures have to be taken to ensure that traders do not make extra hasil (profit), he also said.
Dr. Benazir Ahmed requested all not to hold public gatherings at tourist, recreation centers, parks and tourist spots centered on Eid to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Stating that measures should be taken to ensure safe travel for homebound people on Eid, the police chief said no transport would be able to carry extra passengers. All types of vessels, including launches, cannot carry extra passengers. The movement of unfit vehicles on roads and highways should be stopped.
At the time, he also directed to ensure the security of Eid Jamaat in important mosques.
The IGP said intelligence surveillance and monitoring should be increased to ensure that no group or community spreads any kind of rumor through social media during Eid. “We have to be alert and vigilant about the activities of militant and terrorist groups,” he added.
Expressing his conviction to create corruption and drug-free police, the IGP said, “The officers-in-charge (OCs) of 660 police stations have been instructed to stop drugs and corruption. If any police suspect drug addiction, he should be dope tested,” he also directed.
At the meeting, the IGP directed to ensure necessary security on the occasion of National Mourning Day, Holy Ashura and Happy Janmashtami next month.
