Alleged rapist killed in Ctg gunfight

An accused in a rape case was killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Toytong village under Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram today.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Hakim Mintu, 30, son of Shamsul Alam of Tekpara village under the upazila.
Abul Hakim allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl on April 18. Victim`s father filed a case against him with Banshkhali thana on April 21
Mimtanur Rahman, assistant director (media) of RAB-7, said acting on a secret information a team of RAB conducted a drive in Toytong area around 5 am.
But sensing the presence of RAB members, Mintu and his cohorts opened fire on the elite force, prompting them to retaliate, triggering the gunfight, the RAB official said. After the gun battle, the law enforcers recovered the bullet-hit body of Abul Hakim from the spot.
RAB members also recovered a one-shooter gun, five rounds of bullet and two bullet shells from the spot.
