The burial of Hefazat-e-Islam Amir Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi completed on Saturday
The burial of Hefazat-e-Islam Amir Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi has been completed on Saturday around 2:15 pm. He was buried inside the Hathazari Darul Ulum Muinul Islam Madrasa adjacent to the Uttar Masjid in Chattogram.
Earlier, devotees from different parts of the country took part in his namaz-e-janaza, covering an area of about one kilometer on the north-south side of the madrasa.
Maulana Yusuf, the eldest son of Ahmad Shafi, prayed the namaz-e-janaza. Before the janaza, he urged the people to pray for his mother.
Local MP Anisul Islam Mahmud, Chattogram Range DIG Anwar Hossain Khan, SP SM Rashidul Haque and other leaders of Hifazat-e-Islam took part in the janaza.
Before the janaza, Junaid Babunagari, secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam and teacher of the madrasa, said, “Huzur has left us. However, the Hefazat movement will continue as before.”
Earlier in the morning, the car carrying Shah Ahmad Shafi’s body arrived at Hathazari Darul Ulum Muinul Islam Madrasa. A grave was dug inside the madrasa near the Uttar Masjid.
People from different parts of the country started coming to Chattogram’s Hathazari madrasa to take part in the namaz-e-janaza from the morning. The Hathazari-Nazirhat road was closed from 10:00 am.
Earlier on Thursday evening, he fell ill and was admitted to the ICU of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH). When his condition deteriorated, he was airlifted to Dhaka’s Asgar Ali Hospital before Friday evening. He died while on life support there.
