All vessels anchored at the jetties of Chattogram Port have been sent to sea to avoid any possible losses under the influence of the very severe cyclonic storm “Bulbul”.

Loading and unloading activities at the port have been remained suspended since Friday night due to the unfavourable weather triggered by the cyclone “Bulbul”. Now the authorities issued a “red alert” at the port.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) advised the maritime port of Chattogram to lower danger signal number six but instead hoist great danger signal number 9. After that, Alert-4 has been issued at Chattogram port. All the port officials and employees have been advised to remain vigilant.

Omar Faruque, secretary of Chattogram Port Authority (CPA), said that all activities including loading and unloading the goods at the port have been suspended. All vessels have been sent to sea to avoid any damaged of the jetties and machineries, he added.

The decision will remain in force until further order.
