The 70th birthday of the renowned filmmaker, producer, and director Alamgir is celebrating on Friday.

Meanwhile, he has no special plans for the day due to pandemic COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak worldwide, as a result, he is staying at his residence in Asadgate in the capital for several days. “I did not make any birthday plans due to coronavirus,” he said.

Alamgir said, “Everyone has to tackle the virus by staying safely at home. We all have to follow the rules and regulations of the government.  Only then we can win.”

“I pray for everyone so that they can stay safe with the family.”

“Throughout the years, I have helped many people in the film industry and outside the film industry as possible,” said the country’s renowned actor. “And I am definitely cooperating in this coronavirus situation. However, I have never been interested to let people know who I helped, how I helped. I am cooperating knowingly.”

Born in 1950 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Alamgir’s father Kalim Uddin Ahmed alias Dudu Mia was one of the first producers of Dhallywood’s debut film ‘Mukh O Mukhosh’.

Alamgir started his journey through the film ‘Amar Jonmobhumi’. After that in the ’80s and ’90s, he starred in one film after another. He was successful in all the films including family tension, social action, romantic action, and folk-fantasy.

He has played in more than three hundred movies so far. In 1985, the actor earned the National Film Award for his performance in ‘Ma O Chele’. He also got a total of eight national film awards.

In 1986, he debuted as the director of the first ‘Nishpap’ film. The last film he debuted is ‘Ekti Cinemar Golpo’. The film was released on April 13. Bangladeshi actor Arifin Shuvo and Kolkata actress Rituparna starred the film.
