The holy Akheri Chahar Shamba, an important day for the Muslim Ummah, is being observed across the country on Wednesday, marking the recovery of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (SM) from his prolonged illness.
Marking the day, Islamic Foundation will organise a Milad and Doa Mahfil at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Johar prayers today.
Akhiri Chahar Shambah is observed on the last Wednesday of the month of Safar, the second month in the Islamic calendar. In both Arabic and Persian, the word Akhiri means 'the last' in Persian, Wednesday is known as Chahar Shamba.
The day is observed in commemoration of the recovery of the Prophet muhammad (SM) from his last illness. However, though he experienced some mitigation of his illness and bathed, the illness aggravated and he died shortly afterwards.
