Airport station opens after 5 months

Dhaka Airport Railway Station has reopened after about five and a half months of closure due to the coronavirus outbreak. At the same time, Joydebpur and Narsingdi stations have also been opened.
All trains have been running since Thursday. As a result, from now on, passengers will be able to get on and off at this important station of the capital.
At the time of closure, several development works have been done at the airport station, including raising the platform. The platform is raised so that passengers can easily board the train. In addition, the grill has been provided for the convenience of walking on the public line to the other side.
According to Dhaka Railway Control, five trains have so far stopped at Dhaka Airport station from 11 am to 1 pm. Passengers have left for various destinations.
Joydebpur and Narsingdi stations have also been opened. All intercity, commuter and mail trains have been placing at these three stations since Thursday morning.
It is to be noted that due to the coronavirus, the passenger train movement on the domestic route was stopped from the evening of March 25. After that, eight pairs of intercity trains were launched in the first phase from May 31, but Dhaka Airport, Joydebpur and Narsingdi stations were closed for about five and a half months. It was launched today.
At present, a total of 68 pairs or 134 passenger trains are running on different routes. By the 16th, 42 more pairs, or 64 commuters, mail, express and local trains will be added to the fleet.
