Again 26 die of Covid-19 in a day, 1719 new cases

Twenty-six more people have died from the coronavirus in the country while 1719 others infected in the last 24 hours.

With the new fatalities and infections, the death toll from the pandemic has risen to 8,597 while the tally of infections has surged to 5,60,887, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a press release on Tuesday (March 15, 2021). 

Earlier on Monday, 1773 COVID-19 patients were diagnosed while 26 deaths related to the disease were reported.

According to the release, the recovery count rose to 514,479 after another 1352 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period. 

A total of 20,748 samples were tested at 219 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. With this, a total of 43,03,994 samples have so far been tested since the detection of the first COVID-19 cases in the country. 

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases. 

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 219 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. 

As of this afternoon, a total of 120,825,779 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 2,673,650 while 97,471,405 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
