Advocate Nahid Afreen dies

Advocate Nahid Afreen has died at the age of 50. She has been struggling with pneumonia infections and died on July 5, 2021.

Nahid is the elder daughter of Late Mahfuzus Sobhan, former secretary of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, who contributed to the 1971 Liberation War and the formation of the Mujibnagar government.

She worked as an assistant professor at different Private Universities in the department of law for LLB and LLM.

Besides her several publications on legal affairs, Nahid received awards for singing, recitation and drama over the course of her lifetime. She placed 1st and 2nd in board examination and college examination.

Born on 9 January 1971, she was a single mother and survived by her 26-year old daughter.

Her burial and Janaja took place privately in her hometown in Kishoreganj. Family members asked all to pray for her departed soul and for her only daughter.
