The National Advisory Committee has recommended extending the ongoing 'all-out lockdown' for one more week to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus (Covid-19) infections.
The decision is likely to be made today.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sahidullah, the President of the National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19, revealed the information to the media on Monday morning.
He said a proposal has been made to extend the ongoing lockdown for another week. The decision is likely to be made after today's review meeting on the ongoing lockdown.
A statement issued by the technical committee last night also informed the media about extending the lockdown. As the coronavirus situation deteriorated, the government enforced a nationwide lockdown from April 14 to 21.
Earlier on Saturday, a senior cabinet official told the media that as the Covid-19 situation keeps worsening in the country, the ongoing nationwide lockdown is likely to be extended for another week, and the decision in this regard will come on Monday.
