No one has been infected with coronavirus in the country, said Professor Mirzadi Sabrina Flora, director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR). She said three levels of precautionary measures have been taken if anyone is identified. The steps that have been taken so far are sufficient.

She said this at a press conference at the health department in the capital’s Mohakhali on Wednesday.

Professor Flora said communications with the embassies have been strengthened to stay informed of the expatriate Bangladeshis living in countries where the coronavirus has been spread.

The IEDCR says that 80 percent of the coronavirus sufferers worldwide are mild, 14 percent are serious and 6 percent are severely serious.

Flora said the steps taken so far are enough. No one has been diagnosed with corona infection in the body after testing a sample of 83 people in the country. However, regular contacts are also being made with Asad, a returnee from Wuhan in China. She also said that overseas flights are also being monitored at every airport in the country.

Qatar-based news media al-Jazeera, reported according to the Chinese Health Commission, that the death toll in the country reached 2,711 by Wednesday morning. Moreover, the number of victims is more than 80,000.
