Senior secretary of Election Commission (EC) Md. Alamgir said action will be taken after an investigation over clashes between Awami League and BNP activists during an election campaign in Dhaka South City Corporation.

He said this while speaking to reporters at the election building in Agargaon on Sunday.

Clashes have erupted between Awami Leauge activists and BNP nominated mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation Ishraque Hossain's supporters in Gopibagh area while campaigning today. In this incident, 17 people were injured.

Earlier, the EC secretary said over attack on BNP's mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Tabith Awal's campaign that the two groups had gone there without informing the police. An elbowing incident happened in the campaign between two groups, they have not informed of it. The Commission has been asked to settle the matter.

Responding to a question of whether it was a violation of the code of conduct for the City elections, he said that the secretariat just obeyed command. What the commissioners say is given in the document. Later, with CEC approval, it was implemented, and the entire matter depends on commission. The Commission will decide what will be discussed or what will not to do.
