Abrar Fayaz, younger brother of murdered BUET student Abrar Fahad, has put an end to the study at Dhaka College.

On Tuesday, first-year student Fayaz took a transfer certificate (TC) from the college and decided to study at Kushtia Government College.

Confirming the matter, Dhaka College Vice-Principal ATM Mainul Haque said, “We have received an application from Faiyaz today (Tuesday) where he asked for a transfer certificate. He does not want to stay in Dhaka anymore after his brother’s death and wants to study at Kushtia Government College which is located in his hometown.”

“An official of Dhaka Education Board college section has confirmed that Faiyaz’s application has been granted,” the vice-principal added.

Abrar’s father, Barkat Ullah, said, “I have taken the transfer certificate from Dhaka College today. There is still some ancillary work left. After all the formalities, Fayaz will be admitted to Kushtia Government College within 3-4 days.”

“I am aware of this matter,” said Kazi Manjur Qadir, principal of Kushtia Government College. “In the meantime, I have had a talk with the Chairman of Jessore Education Board. Abrar Fayaz will be admitted to the science department of Kushtia Government College.”

Fayaz told the media that he would not go to Dhaka. “My brother took me to Dhaka. Now my brother is no more, how do I stay there?”

Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) was found dead at Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of October 7.

The dormitory students alleged that Fahad was beaten to death by the university unit Chhatra League men at one stage of questioning him on suspicion of Shibir following his Facebook post over recent several deals with India.

Fahad’s father in the evening of the day lodged a case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19 BUET students.
