A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman to get Lifetime Honors

The Government of Bangladesh presents the prestigious ‘National Film Award’ every year in several categories in recognition of the glorious and extraordinary contribution of the film industry. In this continuation, A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman and Salma Begum Sujata are going to receive the lifetime honors award jointly for 2017.

A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman was hospitalized after becoming ill. In this situation, there is a question arise that how he would collect the award from the Prime Minister on Sunday. But in the end, the actor is going to attend the National Film Awards ceremony as he overcomes that complexity.

His younger brother Saleh Zaman Selim said that his condition is now well. He was brought home on Saturday afternoon.

A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman was admitted to Asghar Ali Hospital in the Capital on April 26 this year due to illness. He was taken to the Operations Theater on an emergency basis on April 27 at noon. There the surgery ended successfully. He was transferred to the cabin on the morning of April 28. He was then taken to Dhaka Medical College after the treatment. After receiving treatment for more than two months, he returned home. He was then admitted to the hospital on November 25 when he became ill again.

A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman started his career with the film ‘Biskonna’ in the early sixties. In this film, he was the assistant director. He worked as a story and screenwriter in the film ‘Jolcobi’ for the first time. He has acted in numerous films and dramas.

A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman won the National Film Award five times. He received the state’s highest honor Ekushey Padak in 2015 in recognition of his contribution to Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
