The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), coalition of ten countries in Southeast Asia, has expressed disappointment on Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi for taking stand in favor of Rohingya genocide.

ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR), a human rights intervention force, criticized Suu Kyi in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The way the one of the pioneers of democracy is now seeking to reverse and curb the Rohingya genocide accusations is a very tragic and shocking event, APHR said.

The organization made the statement in response to the Myanmar leader’s participation in the ICJ hearing.
