AL finalizes 27 candidates for local govt polls

The names of 27 Awami League nominated candidates have been announced for the local government elections in the country. Among them, there are candidates for the posts of chairman for 7 upazila parishads and 15 union parishads and mayors for five municipalities.

The nominations of these candidates were finalized at a meeting of the Awami League’s Local Government Public Representative Nomination Board at Ganobhaban in the capital on Friday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina – Awami League president and president of Local Government Public Representative Nomination Board – presided over the meeting. 

The information has been given in a press release signed by the party’s Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua. 

Upazila Parishad elections

Abdur Rauf in Naogaon’s Raninagar upazila, Nayeb Ali Biswas in Pabna’s Ishwardi and Rezaul Haque in Bera, Mujibur Rahman in Satkhira’s Debhata, Victoria Parveen Sathi in Jashore’s Bagharpara, Jahangir Khan Chowdhury in Cumilla’s Brahmanpara and Shahnaz Begum in Noakhali’s Begumganj. 

Municipal elections

Abu Bakkar Pradhan in Palashbari municipality of Gaibandha, Nazma Rashid in Rajoir of Madaripur, Khandaker Morshed Rahman in Madhukhali of Faridpur and Amitabh Bose in Faridpur municipality and Tofazzal Hossain in Bancharampur of Brahmanbaria.

Union Parishad elections

SM Rezaul Karim in Dantbhanga Union, Abdul Quader in Bandabere and KM Fazlul Mandal in Char Shaulmari of Kurigram, Arzed Ali in Daldali of Chapainawabganj’s Bholahat upazila, Abdul Hannan in Madhainagar of Sirajganj’s Tarash upazila, Nurul Islam in Uttar Ulaniya, Kazi Abdul Halim in Dakshin Ulaniya of Barishal’s Mehendiganj upazila, Matiur Rahman in Gotashiya of Narsingdi’s Monohardi upazila, Mohsin Haque Bepari in DM Khali of Shariatpur’s Bhedarganj upazila, Mohammad Ali in Jahangirpur of Mymensingh’s Nandail upazila, Badrul Karim Dulal in Rajiura of Habiganj’s Sadar upazila, CM Joynal Abedin in Baramchal of Moulvibazar’s Kulaura upazila, Mohammad Iqbal Sarker in North Ramchandrapur of Cumilla’s Muradnagar upazila, Satya Chandra Tripura in Barathali of Rangamati’s Belaichhari upazila, and Binimoy Chakma in Magban of Rangamati Sadar upazila.
