AL candidate wins in Gangni municipality

Awami League candidate Ahmed Ali has become the mayor for the third time in the election of Gangni municipality of Meherpur with 9,450 votes today.
District Election Officer Ahmed Ali announced the results privately on Saturday evening.
Ahmed Ali's nearest rival, incumbent Mayor Ashraful Islam got 2,651 votes. Besides, Asaduzzaman Bablu got 490 votes for Dhaner shish (sheaf of paddy -the BNP's electoral symbol) and Abu Huraira got 193 votes.
The total number of voters in Gangni municipality is 20,356 while of these, 9,760 are male and 10,597 are female.
