Asian Cup 2027 host selection postponed

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has extended the deadline for appoint the country to host the 2027 Asian Cup. Coronavirus has stopped all sports around the world. It has also impacted events like Champions League, English Premier League, Copa America, Euro Cup. The Olympics have been delayed one year for the pandemic coronavirus outbreak.

The deadline had been March 31, but the AFC today (Thursday) extended this to June 30.

The Malaysia-based body said: “The decision was taken in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic to allow member associations, many of whom have been affected by the global outbreak, sufficient time to meet their internal processes and timelines.” The AFC website also reported the tweet as well as tweeting it.

The 2023 Asian Cup will be held in China. But Saudi Arabia is now making itself highlighted by organizing large-scale sports events. They are likely to emerge as favorites in the 2027 Asian Cup.
