ADB forecasts 6.8pc GDP growth this year

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has estimated that Bangladesh’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth could be 6.8 percent in the current fiscal year (2020-2021).
They gave the information in an ADB outlook that was released at a virtual press conference on Wednesday morning.
Manmohan Parkash, ADB’s country director, told the briefing that the growth would depend on the second wave of the coronavirus.
According to him, under the pressure of the second wave of the Covid-19, it could be “5.5 to 5.8 percent”.
Regarding the Covid-19 vaccine crisis, he said, “Many companies in Bangladesh have the capacity.” That is why Manmohan has called for an emphasis on vaccine production in the country.
