ACC summons DGHS, BB seeking Sahed`s documents

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sent letters to the Department of Health and Bangladesh Bank seeking documents to investigate the corruption of Mohammad Shahed alias Shahed Karim, owner of Regent Hospital and chairman of Regent Group.
A summons signed by Abu Bakar Siddique, deputy director of the investigation team, was sent from the ACC head office on Tuesday to the director-general of the health department and the head of Bangladesh Bank's financial intelligence unit (BFIU).
In a letter sent to Abul Kalam Azad, Director General of the Health Department, an attested copy of the license and renewal documents issued by the Uttara and Mirpur branches of Regent Hospital Limited has been sought. The Regent Hospital and the Department of Health have been summoned seeking the documents of signing the contract for the sample test of Covid-19, the sample test reports, and attested copy of various bill payments and the relevant documents including the copy of the bill to be submitted to the department.
On the other hand, in a letter sent to Abu Hena Mohammad Razi Hasan, the head of BFIU of Bangladesh Bank, the relevant documents including the accounts of various banks in the name of Regent Hospital and Group anonymously, personal accounts of Shahed and bank loan details in the name of his family members have been sought.
Both the summons has requested to send the documents to the ACC soon.
