Drug trader killed in Cumilla gunfight with BGB

A suspected drug trader was killed in a gunfight with the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Mathurapur area in Sadar Dakshin Upazila of Cumilla on Sunday morning. 

The BGB team also recovered 18,350 pieces of yaba pills from the spot.

The deceased was identified as Abul Hashem, son of late Minnat Ali of Birahimpur village of the upazila.  

BGB-10 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Abu Mohammad Mohiuddin said tipped off, a team was conducting an anti-drug raid in the area when drug peddlers opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back for self-defense, triggering the gunfight.  

During the skirmish, one of the drug peddlers was sustained gunshot wounds. Later, the BGB members took him to Comilla Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
