Nine people were killed in China’s Gansu province when a train rammed into on-site railway workers.
According to BBC, citing the local authorities, the train – on route from Urumqi to Hangzhou – crashed into railway workers on Friday morning in Jinchang city.
Medical and emergency teams have been deployed to carry out rescue efforts.
Meanwhile, Chinese netizens are questioning how the accident took place. One from social media site Weibo wrote: “If the workers were carrying out maintenance work, then the train drivers should have known about it. How could this have happened? That’s nine lives gone!”
Demanding accountability, another one questioned who is responsible for the accident.
